What a hidden gem! We booked just for the one night, we had been travelling the north west and came down from Beaconsfield in the afternoon. Reception were very helpful and friendly. Parking was easy, it was just next door at a discounted rate of $6, you can park out the front of the hotel and drop off bags then go park the car, when leaving you can park at the back door and get your bags in the car from the lifts. So don't be put off by parking offsite, it's actually not what i would consider offsite. The room was big and spacious, plenty of room in the bathroom, with nice hot water and good water pressure. The TV was massive! We had a lounge to sit on instead of sitting on the bed to watch TV and we ate in the restaurant downstairs with the tram in the restaurant, how quirky! The drinks and food were reasonably priced and good value and it was great that after travelling all day we didn't have to go out of the hotel for food. The bed was very comfortable, the heating was cosy and appreciated as the weather had turned bad with wind and rain, but we felt very safe and secure in the hotel. The hotel is easy to find and is right in the middle of the CBD so lots of shops and restaurants are close by, so is the Cataract Gorge and City Park. Thanks again, we will be back for another stay if we are ever in Launceston.

We drove our rental car up to Launceston from Sandy Bay to track down some family graves at Carr Villa Memorial Park and get a sense of the place where my relatives first settled when they arrived in Tasmania from England back in 1885. We visited the cemetery before we drove on into town. The Best Western Plus has a convenient parking lot which doesn't cost a lot extra per night (and we only had to pay for one night), and the room was of a good size with among the most comfortable mattresses we've encountered in, by now, four and a half weeks of travel. We are hardy walkers and had no trouble getting to the Queen Victoria Art Gallery and from there on to the 65-million-year-old rock formations of Cataract Gorge and the Cataract Trail, with its stunning views of the South Esk river, followed by a stroll through nostalgic turn-of-the-century buildings, peacocks and wallabies less than six feet away from us and a thrilling ride on the world's longest single-span chairlift. The next day, we checked out of the hotel and visited the Queen Victoria Museum before wending our way down the East Coast of Tasmania back to Sandy Bay and our wonderful relatives. We can highly recommend the Best Western Plus.

From the moment I stepped through the doors, everything was perfect. The assistance from reception was fantastic, the lady was thorough and very kind in doing so. There was quite a queue of people. What's not to like.... it's the perfect location, my next mattress will be the same as the one I slept on here. I will have to go back to stay because I forgot to get the name. The clincher was the towels. Every place I stay it seems there is no attention to the towels. Stay here for the towels alone 😆 we ordered food from the train restaurant. So very good. You should not be disappointed if you stay here.

Great location and lovely staff. The meal we had in the "Tram" restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. The location of the property is brilliant. An easy 10 -15 minute walk to the Cataract Gorge (a must do if visiting Launceston), an easy walk to three lovely parks and a "stones throw" from a number of great eateries, e.g. La Cantina - authentic Italian cuisine - Bellissimo! And M&B Cafe and Smoothie Bar - great coffee and delicious brekkies. And, because the Motel is tucked up a side street, it is quiet.... perfect for a good night's sleep after traipsing all over the Gorge.

This hotel is in a convenient location. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was a comfortable size with places to open two suit cases. The room had working air conditioning. The hotel has breakfast available and restaurants. We appreciated to in house laundry room. We had a wonderful time in the very charming Launceston at this hotel. We probably should have stayed for a full week. There is so much to do in the area.
